Healthy Smoothies

Breakfast! After sleeping all night, I used to love getting up - firing up the family sized 'griddle' and creating a delectible aroma of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes and juice. It took me back to my childhood days when we'd spend time with my grandmother. I'd always steal a piece (or five) of bacon from the heaping platter on the stove as she cooked. She called me 'bacon face' - and I assure you - I was!!

I do miss that 'feeling' but have learned to replace it while still keeping the memories. Instead of the big bacon breakfast, we now enjoy smoothies! Hubby takes one to work and it lasts him all day. Our daughter loves juicing carrots - then races me to see who can finish first. She always wins. :) She and I are now making our own memories and it's great!

Here are a few easy (and fast) smoothie recipes for you to enjoy. Let us know what you think!

Sweet Greens Smoothie

Blend:
2 cups mixed field greens and spinach
1 banana
Juice of 1/2 a lime (squeezed)
2 apples (cored and cut into chunks)
2 cups filtered water (we use distilled)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp hemp seed oil (you can buy this at a health food store)
2 tbsps hemp seeds

Blueberry Green Treat

Blend:
2 cups blueberries
1 banana
1 large celery stalk
1/2 avacado
1 cup mixed field greens
2 cups filtered water or cold herb tea
Juice of 1/2 lime (squeezed)

Healthy Non-Fruit Smoothie

Blend:
2 roma tomatoes
1 large handful spinach
1 large handful field greens
1/2 avacado
Juice of 1/2 lime (squeezed)
Small handful of dried mint
2 tbsps hemp seeds
1 tbsp hemp oil
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups filtered water

These smoothies have alot of the same ingredients (base) but the flavors are so different! Give em a try - you might just enjoy them! By creating a smoothie or juicing, your body doesn't have as much work to digest it - it can be absorbed almost immediately (you do have to drink it first).

If you create your own flavors - awesome! Just remember to use enough water in your recipes (we use half water once a juice recipe is made). Not only does it go farther, but you HAVE to have something to help move all of this OUT when it is ready to evacuate your body. Davod Wolfe calls this your "escort." We didn't realize this right away - trust me.....you need an escort. :)
